Note: This was recorded a few days ago. The new plan is to start another new world when 1.9 gets officially released. This doesn’t happen often, a patch that actually helps to improve the EATS concept. In the new world I plan on using EATS roads and minecart tracks a lot more. PS I know I failed with the directions thing. Big surprise right? I got turned around while looking at the sky. You get mossy stone by breaking stairs facing South and cracked stone from stairs facing East. Donate: www.paypal.com
Just a quick reply to Ethos Lets Play Episode 162. Something I forgot to mention is that whether you will need torches under the tracks or not is dependant on the direction they go (clockwise or counter clockwise) so it’s possible to make every crossroad redstone free.
Track I made on the Oddworld Forums multiplayer server – Featuring sections suspended in the air, sections that go underground and even an underwater glass tunnel. Tutorial here (though you don’t need to use as many powered rails as this since 1.6): youtu.be Also features creations by Oldnile, Havoc, Buncible, Talpstar, Dynamithix and Wariopunk (All I’m responsible for is the railway itself, the stations, and the castle seen at 3:10 ). Things I’ve added are iron doors wich can only be opened by levers. The redstone circuits are entirely hidden, since it doesn’t really feel right if you can see them I also added another underwater room which for now serves as a library. I thought it looks kinda nice. Next up will probably be an undergrund track to a whole different location where I’ll set up another building. If you like minecraft you can get it here: minecraft.net Since this is still alpha, you can get it for as little as 10€ and I assure you, this game is worth every single cent. See a 1.6 version of this track design in action on an SMP server (fewer powered rails needed, updated stations & long slopes) – Click here: youtu.be With the introduction of powered rails and switches in Beta 1.5, (AT LAST! A real use for gold other than making clocks!) it’s now easy to build practical minecart transit systems. (They don’t have to be as “ornate” looking as this testing track, though!) I show a basic way of launching and boosting your minecart, and an example of a station that allows you to stop, and then resume your journey. A line of 6 powered rails should be placed a block away from your starting points to get up to speed. Boosters of 3 powered rails should be placed every 20 blocks to keep your speed. When passing through a station that you don’t want to stop at, occasionally you won’t have enough momentum to travel down the powered rail slope far enough to press the button to activate the rails – But it’s simple to remedy.
